How to View Saved Wi-Fi Passwords on your iPhone/iPad

Tuesday May 28, 2019. 10:12 PM , from OSXFAQ
Passwords are one of the things that you cannot live without. It is something that is needed to strengthen your security. Putting a password to your wireless internet connection prevents people from accessing/using your internet connection.
Most people would choose to use passwords in protecting their network connection rather than using other methods. Some of these other methods include using MAC filtering and non-broadcasting SSID. Having a Wi-Fi password is indeed the mostly used method in securing internet connection whether at home or in business – all around the globe.
Viewing Wi-Fi Password in other Devices
Using other devices that are not made by Apple Inc., you can easily access your saved Wi-Fi passwords from the Wi-Fi toggle switch. Through this, you can easily connect to your Wi-Fi network.
However, if you are using an iPhone, you cannot easily access your saved Wi-Fi password from the Wi-Fi toggle switch or using any of the settings on your iPhone.
iPhone’s Security Measure
The idea behind this security measure is that if you are using your own network, you should probably be aware of your own password. Also, you can retrieve your password from the control panel of your router. If you are going to use other people’s Wi-Fi network and they input the password by taking the phone in your hand (not verbally telling you or letting you see), that means that obviously – they don’t want you to know their Wi-Fi password. This decision is something that the creators of iPhone/iPad respect.
Still, there are times when people forget their own Wi-Fi password. For this matter, examining your iPhone/iPad might be imperative in order to retrieve the Wi-Fi password.
How to Access Wi-Fi Passwords on your iDevice (iPhone or iPad)
There is no on-system procedure in the iDevice in order to retrieve the saved Wi-Fi passwords. The only way to be able to do this procedure is to use third-party methods. Here are a few methods of saving and retrieving Wi-Fi password/s:

Using a non-jailbroken iPhone through an app
Using a jailbroken iPhone
Using the Keychain app on a Mac computer

For the third method, the Mac device should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Just a reminder, if you have access to your router’s control panel, you can retrieve your Wi-Fi password from there. If you can do that, you don’t need to do all these procedures.
How to View Saved Wi-Fi Passwords on a Non-Jailbroken iDevice
The truth is there are a lot of apps on the Cydia store that enables you to access your Wi-Fi password. Unfortunately, these apps can’t be found on the Apple’s own app store because finding such apps would be contradictory to what they believe in – which is the same reason why you can’t view the Wi-Fi password on your iDevice.
Luckily, there is an app that lets you save all your Wi-Fi passwords into one centralized app. These apps let you save all your passwords with all the necessary information without mixing up one password from another. An example of this type of app is the 1Password. This way, you could always remember and keep the Wi-Fi passwords that you use.
How to View Saved Wi-Fi Passwords on a Jailbroken iDevice
If you prefer to use a jailbroken iPhone/iPad, you may download and install the app Wi-Fi passwords through the Cydia store or any other supported method.
Once installed, open the app and the saved Wi-Fi password/s will be displayed on the screen of your device.
How to Find Saved iDevice Wi-Fi Passwords Using Keychain Access using Mac Computer
Another method to find saved Wi-Fi passwords would be to use the keychain access. Keychain is an app that stores passwords which may include Wi-Fi passwords. In order to access the Wi-Fi password/s, follow these general procedures:

Make sure that your Mac computer should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Open Keychain app
Scroll through the list of keys and find the one you’re searching
Double-click on it and tick the box that says “Show Password”
Sync Keychain with your iCloud account

Sync also Keychain to your iPhone or any other iDevice. Your devices must be running on iOS 11 or above. This way, the password will be synced to other devices and the saved Wi-Fi password could be finally retrieved.
Now you know all the possible methods that you could perform in order to retrieve Wi-Fi passwords.
Still, the best way is to use your own Wi-Fi network. While retrieving any passwords, it is still not ethical to sneak into other people’s password/s. Like what the Apple Inc. creators believe in, it is best to respect someone else’s decision on whom they decide to share their Wi-Fi passwords with.
