It’s impossible to exist in today’s modern society and not come across Apple products on a regular basis. They’re one of the top companies in the world and the continued success of their computers, phones, and tablets show that they’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
When Apple Pay was launched in 2014 it became a very easy means of payment for people with iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. The service works similarly to contactless payments and supports the majority of credit or debit cards such as AmEx, Visa, and Mastercard.
What is Required for a Business to Accept Apple Pay?
Apple Pay requires certain technology to work, so not every business wants to or is able to accept it as a form of payment. The service works via an NFC chip in the Apple device that holds the payment information, and in combination with the Wallet app and either Touch ID or a pin code. The NFC chip then communicates with the point of sale, such as a card reader, and the payment is made.
The technology is basically identical to regular contactless payments, so if a store accepts contactless card payments there’s no reason why they shouldn’t accept Apple Pay as well.
