Tuesday January 7, 2025. 08:30 PM , from PC World
Unveiled this week at CES in Las Vegas, the Altas Wireless Security System includes two 2K bullet-style Altas cameras, two 6-watt solar panels, and a Home Hub for centralized management. Each camera features a 20,000mAh battery, providing up to seven days of continuous recording. With just two hours of sunlight daily, the solar panels keep the cameras running around the clock, reducing reliance on motion detection. The Home Hub acts as the system’s control center, enabling users to manage up to eight cameras and access live footage, playback, and detailed reports through the Reolink app. Reolink’s ColorX technology delivers full-color night vision, capturing sharp, accurate images even in low light. The system’s advanced lens and sensor collect up to four times more light than traditional infrared cameras. Another notable feature is pre-event recording, which captures the 10 seconds leading up to an event. This extra context can make a significant difference when reviewing footage, providing a more complete picture of what happened. Each of the system’s cameras is powered by a 20,000mAh battery and enhanced by solar panels.Reolink With the included Home Hub, users can centralize control of up to eight cameras, including other compatible Reolink models. The Reolink app allows for live viewing, playback, and access to detailed security reports, giving homeowners a clear snapshot of activity across their property. The system integrates with smart home platforms like Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Home Assistant. Users can customize system routines and set unique alerts, whether they’re at home, away, or temporarily turning off the system. The Home Hub includes local storage expandable up to 1TB, ensuring footage is accessible without relying on cloud services. AES-128 encryption adds another layer of protection, keeping video data private and secure even if the hub is stolen or reset. With its focus on ease of use, the Altas Wireless Security System appears to be a strong option for families aiming to safeguard their homes, frequent travelers seeking reliable monitoring while away, and homeowners managing multiple entry points like driveways, porches, and garages. The system will be available for purchase starting in Q1 2025.
