Asus’s 2025 Zenbook lineup includes a laptop with 32-hour battery life
Tuesday January 7, 2025. 06:30 PM , from PC World
The Zenbook A14 is the highlight of Asus’s new 2025 Zenbook lineup, which it unveiled at CES 2025 this week, not just because of its insane battery life but also because it weighs just 2.5 pounds. Asus claims that makes it the world’s lightest Copilot+ PC – and there’s no doubt that it pushes the boundaries of what a portable AI-capable laptop can be. We’ve already got our hands on one and you can read our initial thoughts and more about it here. But it’s not the only powerful, lightweight laptop announced by Asus at CES this week. Alongside the Zenbook A14 the company also announced five new 14-inch Zenbooks, each weighing a mere 2.82 pounds — that’s just a smidgen heavier than the Zenbook A14 and, in our view, no less portable! Five new powerful Zenbook 14s The new Zenbook 14 lineup includes three models powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 2 chips and two powered by AMD’s new Ryzen AI 300 Series chips. While in 2024 Asus had to specify which of its 14-inch Zenbooks featured OLED displays by adding the suffix “OLED” to their names, the 2025 models dropped the moniker altogether. Why? Because they all now come with glorious 14-inch 100 percent DCI-P3 OLED panels. The top pick of the Zenbook 14s are two models featuring Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processors with Intel Arc graphics and 32 GB of LPDDR5X on-board RAM (models UX3405CA-PS99T and UX3405CA-U9321TB). These models also boast 2880×1800 OLED displays with 120Hz refresh rates and 1TB of SSD storage. One in Foggy Silver color will be available as early as January 27 for a MSRP of $1,299.99. 2025 Asus Zenbook 14 in Foggy Silver Asus The stepdown Intel-powered Zenbook 14 with a Core Ultra 7 265H processor, 1920x1200p resolution 60Hz OLED panel, 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage (model UX3405CA-U7512), will ship for $999.99 and will be available later in Q1 2025. All three Intel models sport advanced connectivity in the form of Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 and feature 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports for speedy transferring of files. They also promise multi-day battery lives thanks to their high capacity 75Wh batteries. The two Zenbook 14 models with Ryzen AI 300 chips are virtually identical to each other, boasting AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processors, touch-sensitive 1920x1200p resolution OLED displays, and 1TB SSD storage — that is, except for the different RAM options they have onboard and their staggered release dates. Those eager to get their hands on a Ryzen-powered Zenbook 14 specifically can pick up the model with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM (UM3406KA-PS76T) as early as February 2025. Otherwise, a model for the same $999.99 MSRP, the Zenbook 14 (UM3406KA-WS79T) with 32GB is expected to ship shortly afterwards in March this year. Both models will come with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and boast a high capacity 75Wh battery pack to last more than a full day. Asus Zenbook Duo laptops are back with a vengeance Asus’s dual screen Zenbook Duo laptops have similarly been refreshed with more powerful and more efficient Intel Ultra Series 2 chips this year. These laptops, also announced this week at CES 2025, once again feature Asus’s built-in ScreenXpert software, which allows for smartphone-like multi-touch user control. The refreshed lineup includes three models, two with zippy Core Ultra 9 285H processors, and the other with a Core Ultra 7 265H processor and Intel Arc graphics. All three models come with dual 14-inch 120Hz Pantone-validated OLED touchscreens and 32GB LPDDR5X RAM as well as built in kickstands. One of the models (model UX8406CA-PS99T) with Core Ultra 9 285H processor prioritizes resolution, boasting dual 3K (2880x1800p) displays. It’s set to ship for $1,699.99 as early as February 10. Asus Alternatively, if storage is more important, consumers can opt for the other juiced-up Core Ultra 9 Duo configuration (model UX8406CA-IS99T), which has lower resolution 1920x1200p displays, but an extra 1TB storage (to make 2TB) for the same MSRP of $1,699.99. It will be available in late Q1 2025. The third configuration (model UX8406CA-DS79T) hits a middle ground on features. As well as its Intel Core Ultra 7 265H processor, it boasts 1TB SSD storage and dual 1920x1200p displays. It will ship with a MSRP of $1,599.99 also in late Q1 2025. All three U.S. Zenbook Duo configurations come with retractable, rechargeable Bluetooth keyboards. They also feature a 180-degree hinge which expands their workable space to a whole 19.8 inches. That makes their comparatively heavier weight of 3.64 pounds still a highly attractive proposition for consumers that need a portable yet versatile workstation.
