Oracle CloudWorld 2024: Latest news and insights

Oracle CloudWorld, one of the tech industry’s signature events, began September 9th. The event, known as OpenWorld until 2020,  is a significant gathering for IT professionals, developers, and business leaders looking to explore the latest advancements in cloud computing.

Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence gets Gen AI-powered developer assistant

September 10, 2024: Oracle will be adding a new generative AI-powered developer assistant to its Fusion Data Intelligence service, which is part of the company’s Fusion Cloud Applications Suite, the company said at its CloudWorld 2024 event. Fusion Data Intelligence, which is an updated avatar of Fusion Analytics Warehouse, combines enterprise data, and ready-to-use analytics along with prebuilt AI and machine learning models to deliver business intelligence.

Oracle inks deal with AWS to offer database services

September 10, 2024: In continuation of its efforts to help enterprises migrate to the cloud, Oracle said it is partnering with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer database services on the latter’s infrastructure. Announced at CloudWorld 2024, Oracle Database@AWS will allow enterprise users to access Oracle Autonomous Database on dedicated infrastructure and Oracle Exadata Database Service within AWS.

Oracle HeatWave’s in-database LLMs to help reduce infra costs

June 26, 2024: Oracle is adding new generative AI-focused features to its Heatwave data analytics cloud service, previously known as MySQL HeatWave. The new name highlights how HeatWave offers more than just MySQL support, and also includes HeatWave Gen AI, HeatWave Lakehouse, and HeatWave AutoML, said Nipun Agarwal, senior vice president of HeatWave at Oracle.

Oracle renames Database 23c to 23ai, makes it generally available

May 2, 2024: Oracle is making the latest long-term support release version of its database offering — Database 23c — generally available for enterprises under the name Oracle Database 23ai. The change in nomenclature can be attributed to the addition of new features to the database that are expected to help with AI-based application development among other tasks, the company said.

Oracle adds AI capabilities to its Fusion Cloud CX

April 25, 2024: Oracle is adding more AI capabilities to its Fusion Cloud CX that provides software for sales, marketing, and service teams across an enterprise, the company announced on Thursday. The new capabilities, based on the company’s OCI Generative AI service, include generative AI-assisted answer generation, assisted scheduling for field service, opportunity quality scoring, and seller engagement recommendations.

Oracle unveils its API-led generative AI service with Cohere’s LLMs

Sept. 20, 2023: Just months after unveiling its three-tier generative AI strategy across multiple product offerings, Oracle has taken the covers off its new API-led generative AI service at its ongoing annual CloudWorld conference. The new generative AI service, which is built and supported on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in combination with large language models (LLMs) from Cohere, is a managed service that will allow enterprises to integrate LLM-based generative AI interfaces in their applications via an API, the company said
