In Japan, an online insult can now land you in jail for up to a year

People in Japan hurling 'online insults' will now be thrown into jail for up to a year, or fined 300,000 yen (about $2,200), according to CNN. The new law, passed yesterday, was triggered when wrestler and Terrace House television star, Hana Kimura, committed suicide in 2020 after enduring months of daily online abuse. — Read the rest
