An Epic defection? The Division 2 won't release on Steam

When the Epic Games Store was unveiled last month, I said Valve should be scared. “Epic doesn’t need to convince players [to leave Steam],” I wrote, “It only needs to convince developers.” And that seemed eminently doable, given Epic was offering developers an additional 8 to 18 percent of revenue, depending on sales. “If enough developers decide the grass is greener on Epic’s platform, we could see a slow trickle and then an eventual exodus.”Today’s the start of that exodus, I think. This morning we got news that Ubisoft will release The Division 2 on the Epic Games Store in March. The press release is pretty standard fare. Preorders open through the Epic Games Store today, random executives are “thrilled,” and so on and so forth.To read this article in full, please click here
