Peanut butter and jelly on a warm pizza crust is pretty darn incredible.

Hidden in the bowels of Disneyland's old Disneyland Hotel lies Goofy's Kitchen. This character dining experience is unremarkable in the world of character dining experiences, except for one amazing item found on the smorgasbord: Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza.

Years ago this amazing treat became a fabled delicacy for my daughter and I. We encountered PB&J pizza the very first time we went to Goofy's Kitchen, however later visits always found the pizza plate empty. While my darling kid had only enjoyed PB&J pizza once, the dish was imprinted on her as a magical-yet-unobtainable treat.

I loved the pizza too! As a youth pb&j in my dad's proto-George Foreman Grill was highly regarded. Lightly toasted bread on the outside with packets of hot gooey peanut butter and jelly in the middle? Honestly, sometimes jelly wasn't required! As a young adult, toasted or microwaved peanut butter sandwiches were also a staple.

Last weekend we wanted a treat worth the calories. I couldn't remember exactly what the pizza looked like and after many years of joking, we checked the internet...

Naturally, there is a forum!

Goofy's Kitchen PB&J Pizza was so popular that Disney either did, or does, offer the recipe to plain folk like us! I am not sure if this was for sale, or just something nice they did for people. Luckily for us, in 2004 disboards.com user Piratesmate posted it for us:

It was in the Spring 2004 issue.

Goofy's Peanut Butter & Jelly Pizza
Goofy's Kitchen, Disneyland

¼ oz quick-rising yeast
1½ tsp light brown sugar
2 c bread flour, plus extra for kneading
1 tsp kosher salt
2 Tbl olive oil
1 to 1½ c peanut butter
1 c grape jelly
clean squeeze bottle

Combine yeast, sugar & 1 cup of flour. Stir in 1 cup warm water & let mixture stand for 10 min. Add salt, oil & 2nd cup of flour. Stir until dough pulls away from the side of the bowl. Turn dough onto a floured surface & knead 5 min, adding flour as needed to prevent sticking. Divide into 3 balls. Place the balls on a floured surface, cover with dish towel & let rest 10 to 15 min.

Preheat oven to 350. Flatten each dough ball into an 8” – 10” round with a slight rim, formed by pinching the sides up. Place rounds onto a lightly oiled baking sheet & bake until golden brown - ~10 min.

Remove the pies from the oven & cover each with peanut butter. Put jelly & 3 Tablespoons of water into a clean squeeze bottle & shake until smooth. Start in the center of the pizza & create a spiral of jelly. Drag a toothpick from the middle of the pie to the edges to create a flared (or starburst) pattern.
Repeat on other pies. Serve warm. Makes 3.

The real trick, for me, was adding water to the jelly and using a squeeze bottle. I couldn't figure out how I was going to get jelly on there and for years considered just making a calzone.

The pizzas are absolutely delicious.
