Wild Rift Japan Cup 2022 Accepting Entries

Akihabara News (Tokyo) — The Wild Rift Japan Cup 2022 (WJC) is now accepting entries esports teams with a deadline of February 16, next Wednesday.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is a multiplayer online battle arena game developed for mobile devices and is the little brother of the popular esports title, League of Legends.

Wild Rift teams are able to register to participate in the opening stage of the WJC 2022, which will kick off from the last week of February. The tournament will be held online, with a ¥3,000,000 (US$26,000) prize pool shared between all participating teams.

The first-place teams and runner-ups of the opening stage of WJC will advance to the main stage of WJC, where a much larger prize pool will be announced by Riot Games in the coming weeks.

Champions of the WJC will be given a direct slot at the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship held in Europe this summer. The runner-up team of the main stage is eligible to participate in the play-in (a qualifying tournament) for the global championship.

Detailed information regarding the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship has not yet been made public.

The WJC events are initially meant to be exclusive to Japanese players only. However, due to the increasing number of players brought in from foreign countries, registered teams must now have at least 60% of their starters be Japanese nationals or those with permanent residency or special residency within Japan.
