Hisense TV 2021: All the new 4K sets explained
Monday June 14, 2021. 03:49 PM , from The Inquirer
This guide breaks down Hisense’s TV range for 2021, a collection of TVs that includes an array of displays from entry 4K TVs to premium Mini-LEDs.
Hisense has developed a niche for itself as a brand that produces smart but affordable 4K TVs. You won’t necessarily find premium video, audio and gaming features on these TVs, but if you’re aren’t concerned with any of the expensive razzle dazzle that often comes with new TVs, then Hisense’s latest sets are pitched towards you. We’ll update this page as we get more information on availability and prices for every model. What to expect from Hisense TVs in 2021 The latest line-up includes a new piece of TV technology in the flagship Mini-LED U9GQ. After giving OLED a go with the O8B model a few years ago, Hisense is back again using the technology in the OLED A9G. Below those TVs lie the U8GQ full-array local dimming model, followed by three mid-range models in the A7GQ and E76GQ and the A4G. The entry-level model is A6G, available in small to large sizes. Save up to £500 cashback on Hisense TVs this summer With EURO 2020 underway, Hisense is launching a promotion where purchases of Hisense TVs can earn up to £500 in cashback Anyone who buys a TV between 9th June to the 27th July 2021 can claim cashback from 25th August until 23rd September 2021. We’d suggest holding onto to that new receipt if you’re going to partake. The offer is only available on selected TVs, and that includes the new L5 Laser TVs (up to £500 cashback), U8GQ (up to £400) and the A7GQ (up to £100). Participating retailers includes AO.com, Argos, Curry’s, and Amazon. Hisense wades into the Mini-LED TV market A number of TV brands have announced Mini-LEDs and Hisense are joining that list with the U9GQ. Hisense says it’s aiming for “detailed, exquisite, and lifelike images”, and with its slim design and high brightness, this is the type of TV that should be able to perform in a range of lightning conditions. It comes in two sizes (65- and 75-inch), and while no price or availability have been revealed as yet, we wouldn’t expect this to be as affordable as some of Hisense’s other efforts for the year. Deezer, VIDAA and Hisense partner up for music streaming At the moment Deezer is the only global music streaming service that’s available on VIDAA, the smart TV platform used by Hisense in the UK as well as others (Toshiba) around the world. Starting from the 25th June, they’ll be tighter integration between the Deezer app and the VIDAA smart interface. This new integration lets uses who subscribe to Deezer Premium, Family and HiFi to easily play songs, playlists, albums or artists through the revamped app. The app arrives pre-loaded on all TV launchers, and subscribers can access their music libraries via a dedicated Deezer button on Hisense TV remote controls. New Deezer Premium subscribers can also benefit from four months access for just £4, a promotion that’s exclusive to the VIDAA platform. Just login or sign up via the QR code on your Hisense VIDAA TV. Hisense goes big with its Laser TVs The company has also announced that it’s introducing a range of 88-inch and 100-inch Laser TVs to its 2021 range. These displays pack an ultra-short throw Laser engine that Hisense claims will deliver stunning picture detail and colour precision, while ambient light rejecting screens limit blue light content for a more natural viewing experience. Hisense TV 2021 Hisense TV Mini-LED 4K U9GQ 75U9GQ65U9GQ The U9GQ is the flagship model for 2021. It features a Mini-LED display that’s packed with 10,000 LED units that should allow this TV to display brightness and contrast with much more precision. Expect black levels to be improved over LCD LED sets and blooming to be minimised as well. Peak brightness is rated in the region of 3000 nits, while with its 120Hz refresh rate, the U9GQ should be capable of a smoother performance with motion. The addition of Quantum Dot Colour technology aims to expand the range of colours the U9GQ is capable of portraying. There’s support for HDR10+ as well as Dolby Vision IQ, which uses the TV’s light sensor to automatically adapt the brightness and contrast of an image in accordance with the brightness of a room, so you can see every detail. This being an OLED panel, you can count deep black levels, excellent contrast and wide viewing angles with little to no loss of colour saturation. IMAX Enhanced certification promises clearer and brighter images, along with better optimised sound with supported content. Hisense is also adopting some more advanced gaming features with the inclusion of ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate). Lag with this model is claimed to be less than 20ms. 800 nits peak brightness HDR10, HLG, HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ Dolby Atmos UHD Premium / IMAX Enhanced certification2.1.2 channel sound 120Hz refresh rateeARC, ALLM, VRRVIDAA U5.0 Alexa and Google Assistant built-in You might like… LG TV 2021: Every OLED, QNED Mini LED and NanoCell TV explained Kob Monney 7 days ago Panasonic TV 2021: Every 4K OLED and LCD TV announced Kob Monney 2 weeks ago Best TV 2021 Best list Kob Monney 2 months ago Samsung TV 2021: Every 4K and 8K Neo QLED, QLED and Crystal UHD TV detailed Best list Kob Monney 3 months ago Philips TV 2021: Everything you need to know about Philips’ OLED, Mini LED and Ambilight TVs Best list Kob Monney 5 months ago U8GQ 65U8GQTUK55U8GQTUK The Hisense U8GQ is the company’s top-of-the-line LED LCD set. It replaces the U8QF from last year, carrying the same design and several of the same features, too. It’s been certified to UHD Premium and IMAX Enhanced standards for meeting a premium 4K experience with the former, and improved performance with compatible content for the latter. Peak brightness is rated at about 1000 nits, so this should be able to display HDR10 content without issue. The features drop from the model above, as this model doesn’t appear support a full array local dimming panel for improved black levels, more precise brightness and better contrast. Smart features are improved over the 2020 models as it’s compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant. Advanced gaming features also feature on this model with ALLM and VRR on the spec sheet. The display features similar specs to the A7GQ and despite not supporting HDMI 2.1, it does support VRR, but seemingly only up to 60Hz. We’re looking to confirm this with Hisense. The 32-inch screen has a resolution of 1366 x 768, while the 40-inch has a 1080p Full HD display. For audio there’s DTS:Virtual:X for adding a bit more size through virtual processing, while for sports and gaming you’re covered by dedicated modes. and features dedicated sport and game modes. For HDR it appears to be just HLG, so you can HDR content on iPlayer. 60Hz DLED display HLG HDR DTS:Virtual:X Sport mode / Game mode VIDAA U5.0 eARC, ALLM, VRRAlexa built-in A6G 43A6GTUK 50A6GTUK 55A6GTUK 58A6GTUK 65A6GTUK 75A6GTUK Finally, there’s the entry-level A6G. Available in sizes that range from as small as 43-inches to as big as 75-inches, the DLED means there’s no sort of local dimming technology for better black levels and contrast. You do get smarts with the latest VIDAA OS with support for Freeview Play, while there’s digital assistants in Alexa and Google. HDR support is rather impressive for a more affordable TV (all the main formats are listed) and there’s HDMI 2.1 support with eARC, ALLM and VRR available across the three HDMI inputs (eARC on HDMI 2).
