8 Insane Guitars on Sweetwater Gear Exchange

Tuesday September 13, 2022. 05:00 PM , from Sweetwater inSync
Recently, Sweetwater launched our used gear marketplace: Sweetwater’s Gear Exchange! If you haven’t heard of Gear Exchange yet, then it’s a place where musicians can sell and swap gear safely and securely through Sweetwater. To celebrate the launch of our new Gear Exchange platform, we’ve searched for the most incredible and vibey guitars just for you. Let’s get started!

PRS Wood Library McCarty 594

PRS’s Wood Library instruments are much more than simple guitars; they’re playable works of art that sound unlike any other. This PRS Wood Library McCarty 594 features a 1-piece mahogany body and a striking quilted maple 10-Top for a classic tonal foundation. What’s more, the 1-piece mahogany neck comes capped with a genuine Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. This Wood Library McCarty 594 has a pair of TCI-tuned 58/15 LT pickups that will sound sublime through your favorite tube amp. The guitar’s visual package consists of a Copperhead finish with matching amber knobs and PRS’s signature hybrid hardware configuration. Plus, according to the seller, this guitar has never been played, giving you the option to become the first to experience the smooth, hand-finished fretwork.

Fender Custom Shop Time Machine 1965 Stratocaster Relic

Take a trip back in time with this Fender Custom Shop Time Machine 1965 Stratocaster Relic. This guitar comes with a relic’d finish, courtesy of the masters in the Fender Custom Shop, that gives the guitar a lived-in appearance of countless nights spent in smoky taverns, occasional drops, sweaty soloing, and so much more. The seller claims this Strat is mostly original except for the pickups and selector switch. The original pickups were swapped for a trio of Fender Custom Shop ’69s, and the original 3-way switch is now a 5-way switch. We know this one won’t be on Gear Exchange for long!

Gibson ES-335

This Gibson ES-335 comes to you from 2008 with an attention-grabbing Tri-Burst finish, a ’60s neck profile, and a pair of 57 Classic pickups. The guitar’s Tri-Burst finish pairs perfectly with the maple underneath, showing the delicate flame without wholly overpowering it. If you flip the guitar over, then you’ll enjoy a classic cherry-finished neck that sits solidly in your fretting hand. Whether you use it for clean jazz, gritty blues, or furious hard rock, this Gibson ES-335 may be your new sonic Swiss army knife.

b3 SL Deluxe

Here’s one you don’t see very often — a b3 Guitars SL Deluxe. What makes this guitar so unique? First, b3 is a true boutique bench builder that only takes custom orders. Second, the original owner of this guitar spec’d it to the max with upgrades such as a completely hollow body and a bound F-hole, a perfectly bookmatched 5A flame maple top, attractive fingerboard inlays, a bound neck, a distressed finish, and aged tuning machines. Beyond that, you’ll get a pair of PAF-style pickups with coil taps, a comfortable “Soft V” neck, and its original case. And, if that’s not enough reason to buy, the buckle rash on the back proves that this guitar plays and sounds even better than it looks in the photos.

Gibson Ace Frehley Signature Les Paul Custom

KISS merch alert! There’s an ultra-rare Gibson Ace Frehley Signature Les Paul Custom on the Gear Exchange! It’s a member of the original run of Gibson LP Customs from 1998. It comes with unmistakable lightning-bolt fingerboard inlays, a custom Ace truss-rod cover, and an amazing Ace Frehley inlay on the headstock. As the seller puts it, this guitar has “Ace all over the place!” This LP is still in collector-grade condition and features exquisite binding all over, a perfectly bookmatched top, three DiMarzio Super Distortion humbuckers, and a custom case. If you’re looking to expand your KISS collection, then it’s hard to go wrong with a pristine Gibson Ace Frehley Signature Les Paul.

Dean Angel of Death

Spread doom and destruction with this Dean Angel of Death. One of Dave Mustaine’s many signature Dean models, the Angel of Death is a high-octane axe ready to grace the stage and studio. This axe comes with a sinister bloodstained angel wing graphic that tips you off to its tone. It has a pair of Dave Mustaine Live Wire active humbuckers that roar and scream when paired with your high-gain rig. The 24-fret ebony fingerboard comes adorned with gorgeous sharktooth/dot inlays. If you need to spread sonic chaos, then you’ll love having the Dean Angel of Death in your arsenal.

Mayones Aquila Elite S 6

Meticulously crafted by hand, this Mayones Aquila Elite S 6 delivers the tight, high-gain tones that Mayones is known for. This superstrat-style guitar’s swamp ash body and stunningly quilted maple top come loaded with a pair of Bare Knuckle TKO humbuckers with Mayones’s treble-bleed modification. Your fingers will fly up and down the ebony fingerboard and open-pore wenge neck. And, when you get to the upper frets, the contoured bolt-on neck joint gives you total access to the 24th fret. This is the axe for you if you want to achieve tenacious high-gain heroics.

Wallace Detroit Guitars “9501 Conner Street”

Wallace Detroit Guitars builds guitars from reclaimed wood sourced from demolished buildings in Detroit. Each instrument built by Wallace Detroit Guitars comes with the address of the building engraved on the back of the headstock, making each guitar a total one-of-a-kind work of art. This T-style guitar is built from pine taken from the Conner Stamping Plant, formerly at 9501 Conner Street, on Detroit’s east side. The old-growth pine is arranged in a beautiful butcher’s block design that really shows off the wood grain. This guitar ships with a strap made from the seats of a vintage Cadillac to sweeten the deal.
