PCIe Firewire Card that works with Windows 11, Roll back to Windows 7, or new interface?

Wednesday July 20, 2022. 02:05 AM , from Gearslutz
My computer finally died on me that had Firewire so I am hoping to get my audio interfaces back online. I bought a SIGG DP FireWire 800 card but it is only compatible up to Windows 8. I did somehow get it to work by installing some legacy drivers but my interfaces drop out in seconds of playing audio. So I have to figure this out and I would like to do it in this order.

Ideally, someone can tell me how to get this card to work and be stable. Note it does have the Texas Instrument chip set.

2nd option, find a Firewire card that can do 16 channels of audio that is plug and play with Windows 11 and just replace. I really cannot find one, I don't know if they exist, but I would rather be on Windows 11 than roll back to 7.

Roll back to Windows 7. I don't mind doing this if I have to but it's a lot of work if it does not work and I have the same issues. My concern is that this isn't a music only computer so I will be unhappy (though I was just using it), not so much today but years from now. I am willing to do so but I always seem to have driver issues and such. I am not sure if this is a good idea, I may end up with things that only have Windows 11 drivers and such.

Worst case, if I have to, I can buy another interface. I really don't want to do this as I didn't expect to buy a new computer (which wasn't cheap) so to buy another interface just is going to take me some time or set me back on something else. This option is only viable if I have to.

I can provide any more information if need be.
