Tips for hosting a safe indoor concert

Thursday September 23, 2021. 06:00 PM , from Music Think Tank
Live music has finally returned, but with winter making its inevitable return, fans and artists are once again being pushed indoors, and with variants still a pressing concern, many in the live music industry are nervous about how to safely execute a live concert. Here, we look at a few ways to make indoor concerts a safer affair.

Mandatory vaccines

While this has the potential to deter a few concert goers, eschewing the option for negative tests in favor of vaccine exclusive shows, will go a long way to preventing the spread of COVID. For added safety, have a crew of volunteers who are able to not only check vaccines but corroborate them with an online database. This will prevent fake vaccine cards from slipping through the cracks.

Mandatory masking

While not fun for anyone, the science is pretty clear on this one, and reasonable fans will be willing to shoulder the small inconvenience for the sake of a safer concert experience.

Partition your food/beverages

Drinking a beer while masked may be ill advised, but keeping food and drink away from the main crowd can help prevent lapses in mask wearing for the sake of food/drink consumption.

Limit your crowd

Hesitancy from potential concert goers may make this one a non-issue, but limiting your venue to a smaller capacity can help to keep things from getting too crowded, and thereby reduce potential spread.
