RETRO AD REPRINT - Roland Juno-60 (1983)
The year was 1983. Michael Jackson and The Police topped the pop charts, the Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet program hit the PC software market, and this ad appeared in Keyboard for Roland's latest polysynth, the Juno-60. Introduced the previous year, the Juno-60 cost $1,795 (roughly six times the average monthly rent of $335), but it had something its predecessor the Juno-6 didn't - MEMORY! It even shared some of the same sonic architecture of its big brother, the Jupiter-8.The Juno-60 would go on to become something of a legend, and still commands above its original asking price on the vintage gear market.
