Time for Your One-Hour Challenge
Friday January 12, 2018. 01:00 PM , from Home Studio Corner
I’m a big fan of challenges.
I like to back myself into a creative corner and see what happens. It’s exhilarating and frustrating at the same time. And also eye-opening.
When you only work on music when things are safe and comfortable, you never have much of a reason to push yourself.
Challenges are eye-opening because they reveal surprises (both good and bad) in your skills and workflow as a musician and/or audio engineer.
It’s difficult to explain. You have to experience it for yourself.
This month over in my VIP members area, we’re doing a One-Hour Challenge. The rules are simple. Set a timer for 60 minutes. Record, edit, mix, and master a song before the timer runs out. When the timer goes Ding!, export what you’ve got. Challenge completed.
You may crash and burn completely (I almost did). Or you may succeed wildly. Either way, you will learn something valuable about yourself. Perhaps you’ll discover a talent you didn’t know you had. Or maybe the challenge will expose a flaw in your approach that’s been hurting you.
Either way, it only takes one hour. And everybody’s got one hour.
Whether you’re a VIP member or not, I challenge you to do your own One-Hour Challenge.
And if you’re feeling REALLY brave, join my VIP program and share your challenge results with the other Vipers. You can watch the video of me completing MY challenge as well. At the end of the month, I’ll sit down on a livestream and listen to all the submissions, choosing one winner at random to receive a $100 gift card.
It’s ridiculously fun. Won’t you join us? Here’s the link:
