How Much Memory Of a Zipped File Vs a Folder for Graphics?

Saturday April 10, 2021. 06:01 AM , from MacMost
I download a lot of graphic files as zip files. I sometimes just keep them zipped and sometimes I open them up and use what is in the folders. How much disc space does it use to keep both the zip files and the open folders? Should I just keep the open folders and throw the zips in the trash if it is actually doubling the amount of ram being used? Or is it OK to keep both? I like to have both for different reasons, but if it is crowding out the amount of memory I have, I will toss the zips.
I still have a TB of space on my external, but I know I will run out eventually, so I want to know what makes the most sense. If the zips hardly use memory, I will consider keeping both, but if they are both hogging space it makes sense to get rid of one or the other.
